ADHD Connections is led by Adam Klawonn, an ADHD specialist and Psychiatry Physician Assistant who has witnessed the complicated interactions between clients with ADHD and their families, friends, schools, co-workers and jobs. Since 2016, he has helped thousands of children, adolescents, and adults who struggled with the disorder but rarely found the right therapy solutions for them—until now.
ADHD Connections is based in Fort Collins, Colorado, and caters to local clients of all ages, their parents, and their schools.
It offers weekly virtual coaching sessions from trained specialists; regular follow-up with schools to optimize academic settings; and facilitated virtual group therapy around ADHD topics, challenges and successes.
The idea is this: Teach someone to fish, and they can eat for a lifetime. But people who fish as a group can feast for a lifetime.
The main focus is coaching small groups of 6-8 clients. This evidence-based, clinically proven training involves a 6-week course that draws heavily upon the works of Dr. Mary V. Solanto at New York's Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Ari Tuckman, and other psychologists and ADHD experts who have spent decades studying and treating ADHD.
Group course materials are provided and include a weekly take-home assignment. These are designed for self reflection and implementing helpful changes around time management, organization, and project planning/completion. Topics will be reviewed and discussed in a round table-style at each session. Completion of them is essential to maximizing the benefits of the course. Additional group sessions on extra topics are available at the discretion of the group.
Individual coaching is also available on a case-by-case basis. It features the same course materials and methods. Once completed, these sessions can be expanded to monthly sessions for extra support, if needed.
We also recognize that life can present unique challenges, and ADHD requires ongoing management. For that reason, those who complete the group or individual tracks are welcome to return to ADHD Connections for occasional "tune ups."
Sadly, insurance does not cover ADHD coaching services. However, if a pediatrician or medical provider writes a letter of medical necessity recommending it, or if you run a small business, it is possible to deduct the cost of services from your taxes. Consult with your local tax prep specialist.
